Everyone Loves A Harpy
Here is a little glimpse from my AD&D Campaign. Unlike a lot of the stuff from my game, this isn't a scene or character that my players came across. It's more of a picture that was inspired by a handout I made for my players.
The handout was a letter that was written by the member of another adventuring party to his lover. He has a feeling of impending doom, so he has taken time to sit and pen out his last words to her, just in case. His party has holed up in a room in a dungeon. They guarded the entrance with a rather large carnivorous plant, compliments of their druid, and were waiting to a few of them had recovered from a recent battle with a pack of ghouls.
Unfortunately, one of them died from the wounds and then came back... in the resulting chaos, they killed each other off or were slain by their now ghoulish companion.
In the letter, there is some talk of a cleric, who could have helped with the healing or known what was going to happen as a result of the ghoulish wounds. Unfortunately, she was snatched up by harpies.
So the picture is what happened when the harpy got the poor cleric back to its layer... obviously charmed, she easily gives in to the harpies every wish... here we see the beginning.
