Treasure Hunt
With the launch of my Mordheim campaign I'm slipping this story in... it's a little out of order as there is still a couple more where chapters where I am still introducing the warband but what can the Warlock do... the game must go on!!!
Katharina stretched out in the hot water, purring as the heat soaked into her sore body. For all of her training, the amazons had put her through a grueling day. She still marveled at the speed their leader moved and savagery with
which she fought. Katharina could hardly imagine that Thora was the same woman that was chained naked in her brother’s bedchambers just a few nights before.
As if thinking his name brought him into existence, Silas entered the bath without ceremony. He held an old ledger in his hand and was reading from a small note tucked between the open pages as he walked to the side of the tub. “I hope those girls are ready, sister. I have just gotten word of a very lucrative opportunity.”
Katharina scowled, partly because of the question that her brother obviously knew the answer too and partially because he hadn’t taken his nose out of the book to admire at her in the tub. “They are not. The guns have not even arrived, so tell me, my beloved brother, how they possibly could be ready?”
Silas shook his head, “We can’t wait for the guns. They have swords. They know how to fight.” He looked up at her finally, tapping the note held in the book, “Three days ago Burkle the Bugger and his men ran into what was probably a vampire while he was hunting for wyrdstone. He killed the thing, or at least he though he killed the thing. His witch took something that she shouldn’t have… some type of bloodsucker relic. Apparently this thing that Burkle supposedly killed paid him a visit at his camp last night and murdered every breathing soul there.’
Katharina moved to the side of the tub, looking up at her brother. “If everyone was killed, how do you know about this?”
Silas grinned, “Well apparently, Burkle tried to send a message out… a call for help. But the little pigeon never got to deliver its message. It was shot down by a rather unsavory huntsman who was more than eager to pass it to me in exchange for clearing his bar debt.”
His sister considered this a long moment, “His camp isn’t far away. If we were fast, and careful, we could slip in, loot anything the blood suckers left and be out before anyone was the wiser.”
Silas kisses her forehead, “That’s my sister. In and out. I have my entire fortune tied up in those slaves and I don’t want them dead before they have even collected a shard of wyrdstone. I’ve heard that Burke was having trouble with marauders lately. They can be nasty if there is enough of them. Worse, that section of the forest is filled with goblins since the comet struck.”
Katharina grabbed his loose shirt and kissed him fully on the lips, cutting his words off. She purred into his mouth, “mmmm…. I just washed off and you had to come in and make me feel all dirty…”
